I had a very unsettling experience with Fabulous Fries at 2022 Canada Day celebration. I was given the wrong change for my order...shorted me $10. To be fair, the server had been distracted by other workers in the truck when processing my order. I was confused when I got the change, but the server had already moved on to the next customer before I could process the mistake. I double checked with my mother-in-law who had given me a $20 to get fries for my kids and she said she had in face given me a $20 and didn't even have a $10 in her purse that day. I returned, waited in line, and politely began to explain what had happened. Before I got 4 words out, the server looked frightened and looked behind her to the man working the deep fryer. He immediately shook his head and waved his hands as if to say "no." I continued to explain that it was surely an innocent mistake, but the the man started yelling at me that they had a camera trained on the window and that he would review it tomorrow and if there had been a mistake he would refund the money. I said that I was from out of town and that the money would be owed to my in-law and I would have to go back to our seats to get her phone number to give him. He then said "he doesn't even have a phone? no. no. forget it." By now the man was clearly getting angry. The server gave me their number and said the man's name was Martin. I returned to my seats and explained what had happened. My wife then returned with me to the truck to give them my in-law's name and number. That's when things got scary. Martin stopped working and focused on us with rage in his eyes and told us that he was honest and he had already promised to review the video and sarcastically said "it will be my absolute pleasure to give us the money back sometime after he had reviewed the tape" and waved us away. I said I'm sure it will be." This enraged Martin who started screaming at me as we walked away saying "what did you say? come back here you!" My wife stopped to take a picture of the truck for future reference. When he saw this, Martin came flying out of the truck with a $10 in his hand and aggressively approached me, trying to give me the money. I was truly frightened by his demeanor, so I put my hands up and said "please stop. you don't owe the money to me, you owe it to my mother-in-law. you have her number. you can call her when you look at the video and see that you were wrong." I walked away as he yelled at my back saying that I was "clearly drunk," which could not have been further from the truth. He then followed me to our seats and confronted my mother-in-law. He gave her the $10, but then went on a psychopathic tirade in front of my entire family telling them that I was very rude and had a very bad attitude and that he was honest and well respected in the community and no one had ever accused him of doing anything like this. I kept my mouth shut so as not to escalate the situation further and everyone around us agreed that the man seemed frightening and unhinged. He clearly HAD to have the last word. Bottom line: An employee made an innocent mistake, but Martin could not accept that fact, in fact didn't even wat to hear it, then became enraged that I would just walk away and accept the $10 loss. Outrageous and no way to run a customer service business. And the fried were burnt and terrible. ) stars from me, Martin. Good luck keeping that stellar reputation with that temper.
